Chris Huhne & David Chidgey are keeping up to date on issues at Eastleigh's Southampton Airport
Chris Huhne and David Chidgey were today given a briefing by managers of Eastleigh's Southampton Airport. The briefing included information on the airport's commercial success and its contribution to the local economy, as well as details of work underway to reduce the noise impact of the airport on surrounding areas.
Chris & David received the briefing at the Southampton Airport Community and Stakeholder Conference held at the Concorde Club on Stoneham Lane in Eastleigh. This is the third such meeting, which is designed to keep local interest groups and elected representatives informed on issues at the airport. Cllrs Anne Winstanley and Glynn Davies-Dear also attended as representatives of Eastleigh Borough Council and areas neighbouring the airport.
Chris Huhne said:
"The airport has been tremendously successful in recent years, and this is to be welcomed, but it can also create problems for surrounding areas. I am pleased that the airport is prepared to meet local representatives to discuss these problems, and to explain what they are doing to try and ease them."
