Fleming Park's popular paddling pool is undergoing important improvements and a facelift that includes a beach area.
Work on the pool is already underway and contractors are installing new pipe work and water treatment equipment to bring the pool into line with new regulations.
But the pool will also take on a new look and include four new water jet play features on a newly constructed beach at the southern end of the pool - near the sunshades.
Contractors will also be repairing the concrete and re-rendering parts of the walls of the pool as well as replacing the pool surround with a new 'rubber crumb' surface.
The £211,000 scheme is scheduled for completion during April and Lib Dem Executive Councillor for Leisure, Alan Broadhurst was sure the improvements would be well received: "The paddling pool is a really popular venue for hundreds of young families. The project, which is being funded by developers contributions, will mean there will now be even more interest for the children during the summer as well as providing essential works to bring the pool up to the latest standards."
