Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne is backing the campaign to let Zimbabwe asylum-seekers work to maintain themselves when in this country.
Mr Huhne is pictured here as part of a delegation to hand in a letter and hundreds of CVs to Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, to highlight the wasted talent of Zimbabwean asylum-seekers.
Mr Huhne said that the Home Office had agreed not to send asylum-seekers back to the evil regime of Robert Mugabe, but had not agreed the logical result that they should be allowed to work while they are here.
"There are some marvellously talented people who skills are going to waste and who are finding it hard to make ends meet because of the bizarre ruling that they will not be returned to Zimbabwe, but cannot work," said Mr Huhne.
"I have a case in Eastleigh of a skilled Zimbabwean near destitution because of this crazy ruling that she cannot work. It's time for some common sense".
