CHRIS HUHNE WELCOMES HAMPSHIRE POLICE PLAN TO TACKLE BURGLARY

Commenting on the rise in burglary revealed in Hampshire police figures, Eastleigh MP and Liberal Democrat shadow Home Secretary Chris Huhne said:
"The sharp rise in burglary is worrying even though it was an expected development following the rise in unemployment and economic hardship across Hampshire. It is no easier for the victims of crime who are also being hard hit by the recession. I welcome the police initiative to get a grip on this problem, but they need the support and help of the public. As the recession deepens, householders will need to be more cautious about taking all the normal precautions and security measures to keep their property safe."
