Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne handed one of Hampshire's best hopes for future Olympic gold - Tressa Armitage, aged 13 - a bumper cheque to help her training.
Tressa, who is off to play table tennis at a competition in Sweden soon, is pictured here with Chris, Cllr Derek Pretty, Mayor of Eastleigh, Lesley Mead, Asda's events coordinator, and Asda managers Ian Peckett and Claire Morris.
"Tressa is a budding table tennis star who is already being trained at the Institute of Sport and is winning prizes at home and abroad. If Tressa isn't ready for the 2012 London Olympics, she will be in 2016" said Chris.
A fund-raising barbecue and matching money from ASDA boosted the contribution to Tressa's expenses to £1000.
"That Tressa is getting good support at such a young age really does show that we have turned over a new leaf on sports sponsorship. It bodes well for Britain's future success."
