Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne heard about the MEND healthy living programme for families at first hand when Toynbee school pupil Chelsea Mauger, aged 11, visited parliament.
Chelsea and her mother, pictured here with Chris Huhne, were successful participants in the MEND programme. MEND stands for Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it!. It is for 7 to 13 year olds and their families and runs every school term.
Chelsea who lives in Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh said: "I am extremely proud of how I have transformed my health since going on the MEND programme which is running at Fleming Park Leisure Centre in Eastleigh. Every child has the right to learn how to be healthy like me".
Chris Huhne said: "Chelsea is a great advocate for a good programme. Learning about what we need to eat and how to keep healthy and fit are crucial, and MEND is a great start. I hope lots more local children and their families will take part".
