EASTLEIGH SEWING CENTRE WINS BEST DRESSED WINDOW AWARD

November 23, 2009 12:39 PM

Chris helping present the award for the best Christmas window displayThe Eastleigh Sewing Centre was presented with the award for the best Christmas window display in the town by Mayor Pam Holden-Brown and Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne.

The Mayor and Mr Huhne are pictured here with the family that runs the business - Linda Bowyer, Steve Dalley, Helen Bowyer and Luke Harrison - receiving their award.

"I was impressed with the care, attention and hard work that went into the window display, especially the little figures made of wool" said Madam Mayor.

Chris Huhne said: "The Eastleigh sewing centre puts on a good display for every major event in the town - Easter, Christmas and so on - and thoroughly deserve the award."

Mrs Bowyer and Mr Dalley have been in business in the High Street for four and a half years, and report increased interest in fabrics and haberdashery as people decide to make their own clothes.

The centre also does a thriving trade in repairing sewing machines, with some machines made at the end of the nineteenth century still coming back for the occasional renovation.
