Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne and Council Leader Cllr Keith House visited VTCT to show their appreciation for the sharp growth of this educational charity now wholly based in the town.
Mr Huhne and Cllr House are pictured here with Chief Executive Dr Stephen Vickers and trustees at their base in Eastleigh House, Upper Market Street.
The charity now employs 41 people, mainly in the core area of providing skill qualifications and tests for vocational subjects from health and beauty, to hairdressing and sports therapy.
However, the charity also supports other activities, including facial surgery for children particularly in the third world with severe physical deformities. This gives them confidence and much greater happiness.
Another charitable activity is supporting the Worldskills contest - an Olympic games of vocational skills - held each year in different countries and with 40 different skills put to the test.
"VTCT is growing rapidly in an area where it is crucial that people are properly skilled and qualified. No-one wants to have their hair cut or coloured by someone without the skills to do so" said Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne.
"I was impressed by the commitment of the staff and by the range of their activities".
