Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne has written to the Police safer neighbourhood team in Fair Oak, Horton Heath and Bishopstoke to congratulate them on the outstanding reduction in complaints of anti-social behaviour.
Mr Huhne wrote to Sgt Emery asking him to pass on his praise to other members of the team, which have halved the number of local complaints in the Eastleigh East area over the last year.
The team comprises four constables and three police community support officers in part funded by Eastleigh Borough Council and local Parish Councils.
"This is a success based on good old-fashioned neighbourhood policing where residents can see officers on the beat, together with help from public-spirited volunteers like the Fair Oak Street Pastors. The new youth facilities have also helped, as have visits to local schools to stress the distress caused by anti-social behaviour" said Chris Huhne.
"Only two years ago, I had many constituents complaining about anti-social behaviour in Fair Oak and the situation is now much improved" said Mr Huhne.
Mr Huhne has recently gone out on night patrol with the Fair Oak Street Pastors, as well as with Eastleigh Police on another occasion.
