Tribute to Normandy Veteran from Chris Huhne

One of Eastleigh's Normandy veterans who has passed away has received a special tribute from local MP Chris Huhne.

Samuel "Harry" Gerrard, who is pictured here last year receiving his veterans' badge from Mr Huhne, died on Sunday 10th January at Southampton General Hospital.

Mr Huhne said: "Harry was rightly proud of his role in the Normandy landings that did so much to change the course of history and secure our freedoms for future generations, and he was a great supporter of the Normandy Veterans Association including visiting the beaches again in later life.

"His large family and friends in Eastleigh will mourn the passing of someone who made a difference to many people's lives".
