Eastleigh Town Liberal Democrats
Recent Liberal Democrat successes in Eastleigh include:
- Installed CCTV cameras and help points in Eastleigh town centre, allowing residents and visitors to feel safe and secure. This has helped to secure Eastleigh Borough Council the title of a Beacon Council and makes it an example of best practice for other councils to follow.
- Ensured investment and improvement to Leigh Road Recreation Ground, in the heart of Eastleigh Town Centre
- Provision of more homes for some of the 10,000 people on the housing list, by encouraging developers to build more affordable homes and by allocating more land within the town for housing.
- Put in place extensions to the resident parking zones across the town, thereby helping local residents find parking closer to their homes.
- Helped to fund a permanent sculpture of the first Spitfire to fly from Eastleigh Aerodrome in 1936.
- Developing a state of the art youth facility and skateboard park at Chestnut Avenue.
- Created a national standard butterfly reserve in Boyatt Wood, as part of an agreement with National Grid who funded the work.
The town of Eastleigh is split in to three wards. All three wards currently have at least two Liberal Democrat Councillors.
