Liberal Democrats on the Council
Eastleigh Constituency is within the area covered by Eastleigh Borough Council and Hampshire County Council. Eastleigh Borough Council is made up of 38 Liberal Democrat, 4 Conservative and 2 Labour Councillors. The Liberal Democrats have led the Borough Council since they took control from the Conservatives in 1994. The Leader of both the Borough Council and the Liberal Democrat Group is Cllr Keith House who represents Hedge End Wildern Ward. Hampshire County Council is made up of 51 Conservative, 25 Liberal Democrat, 1 Labour and one Councillor representing The Community Campaign (Hart). All six County Councillors within Eastleigh Constituency are Liberal Democrats. The County Council has been run by the Conservatives since 1997. The Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Hampshire County Council is Cllr Keith House, who is the County Councillor for the Hamble division. Eastleigh Borough CouncilLiberal Democrat-led Eastleigh Borough Council is considered to be one of the best run councils in the country.
