Hampshire County Council’s proposed cuts “incredibly concerning”
Among the range of measures proposed by Conservative-run Hampshire County Council, and due to be consulted on imminently, are plans to take the axe to most School Crossing patrols, end remaining funding for buses and community transport, removal of support for homelessness services, cancelling planned road repairs, changes to the way in which contributions towards non-residential social care costs are calculated, proposals relating to the Adult Social Care grants programme, and severely reducing cash for community groups.
Liz Jarvis commented: “These proposals by Hampshire County Council are incredibly concerning, and will hit the most vulnerable people in Eastleigh the hardest.
“It beggars belief that the Conservative government have made such a mess of running the country that it has got to the state where essential county council services are under threat.
“Local people should not have to pay the price for the Government’s staggering incompetence and I hope a solution can be found to protect these vital services.
“I would encourage all Eastleigh residents to have their say when consultations are run.”
