Ticket Office Victory!

Responding to the news that the Government has asked train operators to withdraw plans for ticket office closures at stations including Eastleigh, Liz Jarvis, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Eastleigh, commented:

"This is a very welcome U-turn by the Government and will be a huge relief to people across Eastleigh. Eastleigh Liberal Democrats campaigned hard for these plans to be scrapped because of the impact on the elderly, vulnerable and disabled people in our community and the potential job losses they would have incurred, and I spoke to so many residents who were worried about these plans. Once again this chaotic Conservative Government has been forced into a U-turn because of an ill-thought out proposal which should never have been on the table in the first place."

Liz Jarvis'  campaign recieved wide-spread support from residents of Eastleigh and Chandler's Ford, where ticket office closures would have occured under government plans. Hundreds signed her petition outside of these stations, while more showed their support online.
