Parking Permit Peril

Where has the money gone?

Hampshire County Council, almost bankrupt under Conservative control, has launched yet another set of consultations on service cuts.

Since 2020 Hampshire has raked in over £2 million in income from resident parking permits with that revenue almost quadrupling in 5 years! Hampshire took over Eastleigh's resident parking in April 2023.

“Since then have you noticed less traffic wardens patrolling? I have,” says Eastleigh Councillor Cameron Spencer. “In fact I've heard from countless residents how their streets are hardly patrolled meaning they can't park, even though they pay for a permit, as they're filled by people without permits. It seems Hampshire are keen to take the money but not provide the service."
